Throughout her career, Tina has been recognized for her commitment to professional development and excellence. She was honored with a Certificate of Achievement from the Local Government Leadership Program in 2004, and furthered her judicial expertise with a Certificate in Judicial Development Special Court Trial Skills from the National Judicial College in Reno, Nevada, in 2012. Her leadership extended to serving as a DWI Drug Court Judge, emphasizing her commitment to addressing substance abuse issues within the community.

Tina’s dedication to the judiciary and her community is further evidenced by her appointment to the Magistrate Advisory Committee by the Supreme Court, her current role as a mentor to newly elected judges, and her service as a Pro Tempore Judge as needed. In June 2021, Tina’s commitment to education led to her appointment as an Advisory Board Member to the Los Lunas School Board by the PED Secretary, where she subsequently served as President.

Raised in Valencia County, Tina is a product of its educational system, graduating from Los Lunas High School in 1984. The values of family and community are deeply ingrained in her, being the daughter of Frank and Geri Gonzales (deceased), and building a life with her husband, Steve Garcia. Together, they have raised three children who have also contributed to the legacy of education in their community by graduating from Los Lunas Schools. Tina and Steve enjoy spending quality time with their family, including their nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, through activities such as fishing, boating, traveling, and simply enjoying each other’s company.
