Last month, two members of Touchstone Workers United lost their homes to the wildfires in Los Angeles. While the newscycle may have moved on, those affected by the fires are still in the earliest stages of rebuilding their lives, a process that could take years.
Can you make a donation today to support the two Touchstone workers impacted by the fires? All donations will go directly to them as they work to rebuild their lives.
Martell Carpenter works the front desk at Touchstone, and is known for his sense of humor and kindness. He was forced to evacuate and lost his residence and belongings in the fires. Martell is still seeking housing while continuing to work at Touchstone.
Samantha Feinerman is a long-time yoga teacher at Touchstone and a member of Touchstone Workers United’s bargaining committee. Sam, her husband Tim, and their two-year-old son lost their home and all of their belongings in the fires. Their family has relocated out-of-state to stay with family, and their next steps remain uncertain.
This isn’t the first time Touchstone workers have needed to pull together. Earlier this year, five Touchstone Climbing gyms in the L.A. area unionized after their employer failed to disclose a shooting threat.
Since then, their union, Touchstone Workers United, has been fighting for a fair contract, but Touchstone isn’t playing nice. Not that long ago, the employer proposed a wage cut in order for workers to keep their current health benefits.
Can you make a donation to help these two Touchstone workers rebuild after the fires? Every contribution makes a difference, and all funds will go directly to Martell and Sam!
