Keeping Nashville a safe place to raise a family and grow a business has been my focus as Nashville's District Attorney.
My office has a 95 percent conviction rate on all violent crime. We are committed to protecting children and vulnerable victims too. I created a specialized unit for crimes against children, led by my deputy district attorney and chief investigator. We have also improved services for victims of Domestic Violence and today we are leading the nation in the percentage of domestic violence victims who show up to court to seek justice and hold their abusers accountable.
As District Attorney I will continue to make violent crime prosecution the priority of my office.
For non-violent offenses, we must seek alternatives to incarceration to address mental health, addiction and poverty when jail is not the answer.
We are saving $50 Million per year in Nashville thanks to common sense solutions for non-violent offenders that have reduced our jail population by more than 50 percent. Today we have more programs and opportunities for treatment courts, veteran's courts, rehabilitation and recovery courts than ever before.
This means more men and women are at home tonight and able to go to work tomorrow morning. That is good for both public health and public safety.
It is also good for business, our workforce, and our economy.
I am committed to keeping Nashville a safe place to raise a family and grow a business and I appreciate your support of my reelection campaign.
