I am sharing this ask with long-time friends in hopes of kicking off my fundraising efforts in a good way.
My girls are 4 and 6 - just getting started on their public education journey. Their future is the reason that I got into this race. I'm worried about the future of Iowa on a lot of different fronts: public education, water quality, women's rights, LGBTQIA+ equality - and just the basic functioning of government. The state of Iowa is projected to be sitting on a $2.0 billion surplus - yet we can not fund education at the rate of inflation, we can't hire enough judges to reduce the backlog of cases, and we can't accept summer EBT money to make sure kids with fewer resources are able to eat when school is out.
We deserve better. I want to work with other people to find good solutions to make Iowa a place where our kids want to stay and raise their families.
My opponent is an incumbent who won a $200M lottery jackpot in 2012 - I'm not going to outspend him. But I will outwork him, and your modest contribution will help me do that.
