Next year's elections are barreling towards us. New gerrymandered maps for Congress and our State legislature have been voted on. This past year we've traveled the county talking with voters: from Fishers to Carmel, from Noblesville to Westfield, and recently in rural Atlanta in the northern tip of the county. It's at the Atlanta New Earth Festival that I talked to former State Representative Melanie Wright ahead of her announcement of candidacy for the new 5th Congressional District.
Our State and County party leadership has been hard at work recruiting for the seventeen offices that file at the state and federal level. But did you know that there are fifty-two seats up for election this year at our County and Township levels? And that's before we get into recruitment for School Board and Precinct Chair positions.
That's why we're proud to announce that we've been hard at work to prepare a series of Voter Education Townhalls ahead of our 2022 Candidate Fair. We want to increase awareness and provide information about local offices that are often overlooked, but incredibly important to the day-to-day operations of our County. I'm happy to announce that our first Townhall has been set for late October! The rest of the Townhall series will be in November and December, and to top it all off we will be holding our Candidate Fair in January when candidate filing opens. We want to make sure that all Democratic candidates in Hamilton County have access to the tools and resources needed to get started running for office.
