February was a tough month for transgender Iowans. In being removed as a protected class in Iowa's Civil Rights code, they must now worry about keeping access to their jobs, their housing, and their credit.
This is on top of retaining access to gender-affirming care in a national environment of heightened hatred and attacks.
I want to show our trans and nonbinary neighbors that plenty of Iowans disagree with the direction our state has chosen.
Since 2021, the Iowa Trans Mutual Aid Fund has distributed over $100k to Iowans seeking access to care. Mutual aid is fast, direct, and allows communities to take care of each other.
I've never created a fundraiser before. But I'm feeling helpless, and our fellow Iowans are hurting. Will you help me raise $500 to show we care?
You can access the ITMAF directly at iowatransmutualaidfund.org if you prefer.
Gratefully,
