Trans Student Educational Resources

Trans Student Educational Resources

Trans Student Educational Resources is a trans youth-led organization dedicated to transforming the educational environment for trans and gender nonconforming students through advocacy and empowerment. In addition to our focus on creating a more trans-friendly education system, our mission is to educate the public and teach trans activists how to be effective organizers. We believe that justice for trans and gender nonconforming youth is contingent on an intersectional framework of activism.

Our services aren't offered anywhere else. We're the only national organization run entirely by trans youth. We also supply unique trans resources and provide support for transforming school and beyond. We speak at conferences, host the only national trans youth activist summit, train teachers, collaborate with other advocacy organizations, support trans-related events, provide leadership experience for trans youth, host scholarships for trans students, publish materials about trans education, and promote trans representation in media.

We have grown significantly in the last year and have started several new projects. We created the#MoreThanVisibility and #TransResistance hashtags for Trans Day of Visibility which raised responses to the fact that visibility needs to be accompanied by action. On July 22-25, we held the first ever Trans Youth Leadership Summit (TYLS), where we brought twenty participants between the ages of 15 and 24 to Los Angeles to share knowledge and experiences with each other through workshops and dialogue. We will host our second summit on July 13th-16th this year. Our participants explained that TYLS helped them build community, think critically about issues we face as trans people, and develop their activism. We hope to be able to continue supporting the activism of these participants by funding their activism, allowing them to attend conferences and continue to spread their knowledge and ideas. Your donations support this program and making the future of the trans movement more intersectional and focused on our liberation.

Additionally, we reach millions of people online through our publications and infographics, send large volumes of our resources directly to hundreds institutions and organizations, educate people at several national conferences, appear in dozens of media sources, host the only national scholarships for transgender students, table and have resources available at many different events, publish a model admissions policy on transgender students for women's colleges, and much more. We're looking to expand our reach, which you can help us do by donating!

Your donation will go directly to our programs: to trans youth! But what exactly can your money do? A little goes a long way! Take a look:

$10 can send 4 packages of our buttons, stickers, and infographics to community centers, schools, and more! It can provide a meal for a trans youth at one of our events.
$25 gives us 400 informational resources prints to distribute. It also provides transportation for 3 of our volunteers working locally.
$50 pays for the average travel costs for TSER staff or TYLS participant to host a workshop at a local conference or event.
$100 is the cost of all art supplies for a future Trans Youth Leadership Summit. It can also provide transportation for 4 local youth to attend the conference.
$250 can provide the full cost of one local participant to attend TYLS or to send several TSER members to a conference.
