We just learned that while we’ve seemingly beat back Donald Trump’s demands of a payroll tax cut, which would threaten Social Security’s dedicated funding, Mitch McConnell has included a new way to cut Social Security in the Senate COVID-19 relief bill.
Senate Republicans are using the pandemic disaster to enact a long-held desire to destroy Social Security. And this latest attack comes in the form of Mitt Romney’s TRUST Act -- a way to cut Social Security behind closed doors without accountability.
We have beaten back these attacks before. We must do it again.
