Our country is at a turning point, and I need your help to ensure we are headed in the right direction, by helping me elect Martin Heinrich as the next U.S. Senator from New Mexico. He is the best choice to succeed our good friend, Jeff Bingaman.

I am so proud of the positive campaign which Martin and Hector ran in the Democratic Primary. They focused on the issues that are important to New Mexicans and to the future of our country.

I can tell you we cannot expect the same positive, issue-focused debate in the General Election from the secret groups supporting Congresswoman Heather Wilson.

This is why Martin needs your help. Karl Rove and his Super PAC are already here running ads in New Mexico, and I have been assured that there are plenty more coming down the pike. They have the deep pockets to spend millions distorting Martin's record.

Both Martin and I have stood up against the Citizen’s United decision that allowed for these secret organizations to raise and spend hundred of millions of dollars on campaigns without even having to disclose their donors. For this reason, I proposed a constitutional amendment in the U.S. Senate to correct the Citizen’s United decision. Martin joined me in supporting a similar amendment being considered in the House.

The only way we can fight back is with the kind of people powered, grassroots campaign that Martin is running. But to do that, he needs your help today.
