When I ran for State Senate in West Virginia, the old boys club tried to have me killed, calling out a mafia-style hit that left me unconscious in a hospital bed on Election Day. The attack made national headlines, including a story in the New York Times.
Surprise attacks by thugs and cowards are only one example of a broken system. The state presents a dangerous climate for anyone who stands against the powerful few, unless they’re standing against Democrats.
When traditional political strategies aren’t enough to silence Democrats, the GOP in our state won't hesitate to use violence and intimidation. They tried to kill me with a lead pipe and brass knuckles in a parking lot. Donald Trump and his MAGA enablers would be happy if more states were like West Virginia – in the grips of GOP thugs.
Despite all of the obstacles, I won that Senate race with the help of the team at Turn Left. Now we need your help, to fight back against these violent extremists and traitors.
Donate today and help us elect bold Democrats who know the truth about the MAGA threat, who share our values, and who won’t stop working to protect us and our families by enacting real change.
I made it home from Iraq and Afghanistan. I made it home from that hospital room. And I'll be damned if I quit now.
Watch me.
