Power the legal advocacy for those inhumanely detained at Alligator Alcatraz
Of the roughly 1,500 people currently detained at Alligator Alcatraz, the vast majority have no legal counsel. The U.S. immigration system provides no right to a free attorney. Crossing the border is a civil infraction, not a criminal one – yet the Trump administration has turned civil detention into indefinite imprisonment, in open defiance of due process and habeas corpus.

The Workers Circle is partnering with expert immigration attorneys organized by Sanctuary of the South to launch legal clinics outside Alligator Alcatraz – an unprecedented effort to give every unrepresented person detained there a real shot at legal counsel before the transfers begin.
