This is Noelle from The Workers Circle. We're on the ground at the inhumane detention center Alligator Alcatraz, which is shutting down.
But these people are not being released. They are being flown to other detention facilities around the country, scattered before their families know where they've gone.
Hundreds of people who entered Alligator Alcatraz have simply vanished from the ICE detainee database. Not freed. Not accounted for. Gone. There were 1,400 people inside not long ago. Now there are 655.
The Workers Circle has already donated $50,000 to seed the opportunity for legal counsel at Alligator Alcatraz. Then activists like you gave $50,000 more. But we still need to raise another $200,000 in the next week.
Thanks to you, attorneys are already reviewing files, identifying viable habeas and bond cases, and fighting to get people home. And if someone is transferred before we can reach them, our legal support follows them.
Please chip in $18, $36, $72, or whatever you can right now to power our legal counsel outside of Alligator Alcatraz, help connect people with legal support before it’s too late, and address the current detention crisis around the country.
