Event Date: April 15, 2023

Cost: Free for all participants, supported by volunteers & sponsors.

What Happens: High school seniors in the Chicagoland area that find themselves "unsigned," or without a commitment to a college basketball program, play in front of hundreds of NCAA coaches and scouts with open scholarships to fill.

Why It Matters: During a weekend in April, Chicago teenagers can go from an uncertain future inside the city's most underserved neighborhoods to a fully-funded college scholarship. That, in turn, reimagines futures for entire families and generations. This is what the cultural identity and community of Chicago basketball is about.

Can you contribute today to give to these young men an opportunity at a college scholarship that will change the trajectory for them and their families for generations to come?

Showcase Stats:

  • 600+ total scholarships accepted at the NCAA/NAIA/NJCAA level
  • Hundreds of college programs represented over the years by coaches and scouts
  • 2022 yielded 53 scholarships worth $2.3 million. A budget of $50K yields a 46x return on investment in our community and future

History of Undiscovered Showcase: Founded in 2009 by Daniel Poneman, an Evanston-born, Chicago-based basketball scout-turned-agent, the Undiscovered Showcase has annually brought dozens of kids life-changing college scholarships. Alumni go on to earn degrees from prestigious schools all over the world. Some go on to play professionally, but many more return to Chicago after graduation to help rebuild the neighborhoods that raised them. Showcase participants have become influential coaches, trainers, teachers and community activists.

About Team Edifye: A 501c(3) nonprofit organization that connects athletes to community initiatives. Edifye was founded in direct response to the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, WI, which subsequently led to protests across sports and work stoppages in the NBA + WNBA. Jacob survived, and his family and friends have since established Edifye to organize athletes & projects such as mutual aid centered grocery drives, teach-ins, brake light programs and urban farming initiatives and more.
