UNITE HERE Education and Support Fund

Donate to Help Library of Congress Food Service Workers Hurt by COVID-19

The staff of the Library of Congress are coming together to raise money for our colleagues who work in food service for I.L. Creations. They have been laid off since March and have no health insurance. Your support will help them put food on their tables and help them stay in their homes.

UNITE HERE Local 23 continues to press I.L. Creations to guarantee that these employees receive the same recall rights as other unemployed food service workers in the Washington metro area. We are pleased to report that the company has agreed to extend the Recall Provision in the union contract to March 2022. This means that when the employees are called back to work they will be returned in order of seniority.

COVID-19 is causing economic hardship for many people in our community. With your tax-deductible donation we will provide grocery store gift cards to Library of Congress food service workers who are in need. Please donate by Wednesday, December 9th, to ensure we can distribute these funds before the holidays.
