House Democrats need to take back the majority in 2026 - and the first step is to protect all incumbents, including Rep. Nikki Budzinsk (IL-13).
Rep. Budzinski has been serving as the U.S. House of Representatives for Illinois’s 13th congressional district since 2023. Prior to Congress, Buszinski served as chief of staff to the director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in the Biden administration. Additionally, she was the national political director for the United Food and Commercial Workers (UFCW) union.
Illinois’s 13th congressional district includes parts of the cities of Champaign, Springfield, and the Metro East of St. Louis. Additionally, it includes all of Macoupin County and sections of Champaign, Macon, Madison, Piatt, Sangamon, and St. Clair Counties. In the 2024 race, Rep. Budzinski faced off and ultimately defeated the GOP challenger and Veteran Joshua Loyd by 16 points (53,422 votes). During the 2024 cycle, Budzinski raised $4 million, and her opponent, Loyd, raised $90,000. National party committees, Super PACs, and additional non-candidate groups were not as active here this cycle and only spent around $600,000, all of which supported Budzinski’s candidacy. This is Rep. Budzinski’s second time seeking reelection in this district.
