House Democrats need to take back the majority in 2026 - and the first step is to protect all incumbents, including Rep. Maggie Goodlander (NH-02).
Rep. Maggie Goodlander was elected to serve New Hampshire’s 2nd congressional district in 2024. Rep. Goodlander is a lawyer and former senior White House advisor to President Biden. During the Biden Administration, she also served as an attorney at the Department of Justice. New Hampshire’s 2nd congressional district is located in the western, northern, and some southern parts of New Hampshire. It includes the state's second-largest city, Nashua, as well as the state capital, Concord.
This seat was held by former Democratic Rep. Annie Kuster since 2012. She decided to retire from Congress in 2024 with the goal of ushering in a new and younger generation of leadership. Rep. Goodlander won a competitive primary in order to secure the Democratic nomination; she beat Executive Council member Colin Van Ostern handily by 27 points. She went on to defeat Republican business owner Lily Williams by almost 5 percentage points (23,831 votes). Rep. Goodlander is a very strong fundraiser, as she brought in more than $4.2 million last cycle compared to her opponent’s $713,000. Outside spending was a not a major factor in this race with super PACs, national party committees, and other non-candidate groups spending almost $2 million in this race.
