House Democrats need to take back the majority in 2026 - and the first step is to protect all incumbents, including Rep. Tom Suozzi (NY-03).
Rep. Suozzi has served New York’s 3rd Congressional District since February 2024. Prior to serving in Congress, Suozzi served as the mayor of Glen Cove, New York from 1994-2001 and served as the Nassau County Executive from 2002-2009.
New York’s 3rd congressional district spans northeastern Queens and includes the Northern Shore of Long Island in Nassau County. The special election in February 2024 was to replace expelled member of Congress, Rep. George Santos. In this race, Tom Suozzi defeated Republican Mazi Pilip by 8 percentage points (13,893 votes). Shortly after winning this election, incumbent Rep. Tom Suozzi was challenged in his November 2024 election by Michael LiPetri Jr. and defeated him by 3 percentage points (12,958 votes). For the special election Suozzi raised $4.6 million and Pilip raised just shy of $3 million. In his fall re-election campaign, Suozzi raised $5.1 million compared to his opponent’s roughly $970,000. Outside spending was a huge factor in this district in 2024. Super PACs, national party committees, and other non-candidate groups together spent almost $24 million, with $22 million being spent in the special election.
