I'm a single mother running for assembly district 10. I am a renter, and have struggled to survive as rent prices have skyrocketed over the last few years. I worry constantly that the next rent increase will be the one that locks me out of the market forever - I am running to demand that we cap rent prices, provide housing for all, and protect Nevada's tenants.
As a single mother, I also have a deep relationship with childcare. I understand how difficult it is for working parents, especially single parents, to pay both increasing rents and exorbitant childcare fees. I am calling for universal childcare - by expanding the pre-k program to include all children aged 3 and 4 and providing universal childcare facilities for children under 3.
I am a Teamster and will support unions in their organizing work by establishing pro-organizing laws such as a state version of the federal PRO-act, and will support unions in their fights for their current members. I also will work to repeal anti-worker laws such right-to-work(for less) and protect our gig workers from exploitation.
I support a $23 an hour minimum wage, which is the minimum required wage to afford an apartment in Nevada. Worker productivity has earned us far more than this and I believe that workers are the ones who deserve the largest share of what we produce.
