Help Us Welcome Home the USS Abraham Lincoln
After an extraordinary deployment, we’re raising funds to put practical support directly into the hands of the sailors and Marines coming home.
The sailors and Marines aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln have spent months at sea under extraordinarily difficult conditions during the war with Iran.
When they finally return to San Diego, VALOR Media Network and our partners want to be there to welcome them home.
Not with speeches.
Not with empty gestures.
With things they can actually use.
We are raising funds to assemble and distribute care packages designed around what veterans and sailors have told us would make a real difference during those first days back home—especially for junior enlisted personnel who may continue living aboard the ship even after it returns to port.
Our goal is to serve at least 1,000 sailors and Marines.
What We Want to Put in Their HandsFunds raised through this campaign will support:
- $10–$20 meal and transportation gift cards so a junior sailor on Marine can buy a first meal off the ship, take an Uber, or cover an immediate need.
- Personal hygiene supplies, including toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, soap, shampoo, wipes, laundry supplies, and other essentials.
- Menstrual-health products, including pads and tampons.
- Sexual-health supplies, including condoms and other basic preventive-health products.
- Ibuprofen / First Aid Supplies
- Official voting-resources information cards (QR Code on business cards) for service members and eligible family members, directing them to authoritative assistance for understanding their absentee-voting rights and available voting support while deployed, stationed outside their resident state, or otherwise living away from home.
- A practical rights-and-responsibilities guide (QR Code on business cards), being developed with retired military attorneys, explaining how service members can lawfully report unsafe conditions, contact an Inspector General or Congress, understand whistleblower protections, and know the rules around speaking publicly about their experiences.
- A copy of War Is a Racket: And Other Essential Truths from General Smedley Butler for each sailor who wants one.
The voting information cards will be educational and nonpartisan. They will not tell anyone how to vote or which candidates or issues to support. Instead, they will encourage service members and eligible family members to consult official government resources, installation voting-assistance offices, and other authorized channels for current information about their individual circumstances.
The cost of the books has already been covered by generous donors. That means every additional contribution can go toward the practical support items, logistics, and other resources needed to make these care packages useful and meaningful.
