Puerto Rico’s power grid and water service were taken down when Hurricane Fiona hit, leaving millions without power and water for days.
But the real disaster is the slow response from LUMA, the private comapny that was given Puerto Rico’s power grid last year, and the local government, which prefers photo ops to urgent action.
As Puerto Rico struggles to recover once again from the effects of the climate crisis, it’s hard to know where to send help.
VAMOS brings together independent grass-roots organizations throughout the archipelago of Puerto Rico, many of which have been building autogestión for years.
