25 rich, white men voted today to ban abortion in Alabama, including for rape or incest. This extreme law will disproportionately impact low-income women of color.
This is what happens when the electorate does not accurately reflect the population in terms of racial, gender, and economic diversity. In Alabama, women, people of color, and low-income citizens are largely voiceless. Which is why Vote.org works so hard to increase turnout among marginalized communities.
Vote.org is all about building a representative democracy. For Alabama, that looks like giving women a place at the table when deciding on laws that regulate their bodies.
Chip in if you want to help us turn out more voters next election to create a representative democracy in Alabama and nationwide.
