Virginians for the Right to Vote

Donate to Virginians for the Right to Vote

Right now, Virginia remains the only state in the country where returning citizens must personally petition the Governor to have their voting rights individually restored. The Right to Vote amendment would establish an explicit constitutional right to vote for every eligible Virginian and create an automatic restoration process for returning citizens who have completed their sentences.

If passed in November, this amendment would restore voting rights to more than 230,000 Virginians and take this fundamental right out of the hands of individual politicians. At a moment when voting rights continue to face challenges nationally, we have an opportunity to put lasting protections directly into Virginia’s constitution.
