Thank you for taking the time to donate to Councilwoman Vivian Sanchez-Jones' election campaign. Vivian was appointed to fill the unexpired term of the Honorable Djuna Osborne in October of 2020, allowing her to become the very first Latina to serve in this capacity in Roanoke's history. Since her time on Roanoke City Council she has been able to help direct funding for the community from the CARES Act, the ARPA and other funds that were delivered to the City in response to the Coronavirus Pandemic, fight to bring pay raises and help deliver much deserved bonuses to the City's first responders.
Councilwoman Sanchez-Jones has been a fierce advocate for the community for the last 20 years, bringing her caring and compassionate spirit to help serve any community she is a part of.
Shortly after arriving in Roanoke, Vivian began working for Commonwealth Catholic Charities as a School and Community Liaison helping immigrant children as they began attending schools across the Roanoke Valley. In 2015 she began working for Roanoke City Public Schools as a Student Support Specialist. In this new role she continued to be an advocate for students and to help them become successful in their schooling and future careers.
Her skilled leadership abilities, and hard working attitude have helped so many people in the Roanoke Valley and beyond. She is going to continue to use those skills to continue serving the community which welcomed her with open arms when she first came to Roanoke in 2002.
