mission of the VLBC is to improve the economic, educational, political and
social conditions of African Americans and ot...her underrepresented
groups in the Commonwealth of Virginia; monitor the status of these
citizens and use the political and legislative process to influence
change; provide a forum for citizens of Virginia to voice their opinions
and concerns; form coalitions and encourage collaborations among people of
diverse backgrounds to explore issues and formulate solutions; raise the consciousness
of other groups to the contributions made by African Americans to the
Commonwealth and the Nation.
