I'm born and raised in Honolulu. I went to high school here. But after college I made the same decision far too many of our loved ones are making. I left to build a career.
I moved to Los Angeles, worked hard, and became a video editor. For the last 11 years I've been fortunate to work for Jay Leno on his car shows. When the pandemic hit, my work went remote overnight, and because I had an affordable place to land at my mom's, I got to do the thing too many locals can't. I came home for good.
It turned out to be the best decision I ever made. A month after moving back I met my wife. We got married, and in 2023 Julia and I put our savings into our place at Kukui Plaza, right here in HD28.
I'm running to make that story of homecoming a lot more common. And that starts with housing.
I'll fight to fix the failing sewers blocking new affordable housing. To protect renters with just-cause evictions and real limits on rent hikes. To give condo families relief on the HOA costs squeezing them out. And to restore Sand Island and Mauliola for the families who actually live here.
For too long we've thrown the same thinking at Hawaiʻi's hardest problems and acted surprised when nothing changes. Our neighborhood deserves leadership that listens, works with people, and isn't afraid of a new idea.
This is our neighborhood. This is our fight. If you believe Hawaiʻi should be a place where our families can build a future without leaving the islands for good, chip in today and invest in HD28 with us.
