40,000 More Voters!

Help Us Register Young and BIPOC Voters in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina

Mecklenburg County (which includes Charlotte) has the highest number of unregistered people of color and young residents in North Carolina. While white voting in NC has trended up in the last six years, Black and Latinx voting has gone down since 2018. Imagine NC First grantees will conduct voter registration drives to add 40,000 additional BIPOC and young voters to the rolls in 2024. That work begins now.

Event occurred: March 6, 7:30 pm

Keynote speaker:

former MA Gov. Deval Patrick

Early money is critical for building the infrastructure needed to register, engage, and turn out voters year-round. All funds for this event qualify for charitable tax deductions (for larger donations, check/wire instructions below). Imagine NC First’s Mecklenburg County voter registration grantees include:

  • North Carolina A. Philip Randolph Institute, a Black-led organization that consistently runs the largest voter registration programs in NC and is the most ready to grow their program quickly.
  • Action for the Climate Emergency (ACE) works at the nexus of youth, climate, and democracy. In 2024, ACE will run its largest ever field canvass program to register young, diverse voters in Mecklenburg County.

Your contribution will enable them to open new offices and add even more staff. When these groups are fully funded, North Carolina can once again become a state that expands democratic and human rights, and grows in a way that works for all of NC's residents.

Your gift to these organizations is tax-deductible. Select "make it monthly" to become a recurring donor. A monthly donation to these organizations will help build a long-term pipeline of community leaders and yearly infrastructure in North Carolina.
