Miguel Valente is running for the Sangamon County Board, District 18, to bring innovative changes and enhance residents' quality of life. He proudly served in the Army National Guard as a Water Treatment Specialist. Raised in a Mexican immigrant family, Miguel understands the importance of advocating for low-income and minority communities. He aims to be proactive and accessible to all residents.


At 25 years old, he is the only U.S. veteran and Hispanic/Latino candidate in a contested Democratic primary. On March 17, 2026, he successfully defeated the incumbent, Sam Cahnman, in his first-ever election.


Miguel is on track to become one of the youngest individuals ever elected to the Sangamon County Board and the only Hispanic/Latino representative in recent memory.
