Showing up for abortion protections in a post-Roe world

One year ago, when the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, we knew that the outcome would be catastrophic for millions of people across the country. And indeed, to date, 20 states have already passed some sort of major abortion ban or restriction, with more on the way. We’re with you in shared grief today, and most days, as we continue the fight ahead.

But while these terrible bans were predictable — two important additional truths remain:

  1. This is a prochoice country. We see the proof over and over again. There is not a single state where abortion bans are popular. We are the majority, and we overwhelmingly agree that reproductive medical decisions should be made freely without government interference.
  2. Prochoice champions — in city halls to state houses and everywhere in between — are stepping up in historic ways, ready to fight for reproductive freedom and body autonomy.

This is why our work is more critical than ever before. At #VOTEPROCHOICE, we create resources to empower prochoice voters to make a difference at the ballot box, as well as endorsing and supporting candidates running for office at every level of government.

Because abortion rights can’t wait until 2024.

If you’re able, please consider rushing a donation to our Prochoice Candidate Fund in honor of the first anniversary of the end of Roe v. Wade. Your contributions allow us to continue the critical work of supporting emerging leaders — an overwhelming majority of whom are women and/or people of color.
