Safer Country
Safer Country created the "Prevent A Gun Tragedy - SPEAK UP!" red flag law public awareness campaign by working with Fairfax County. The red flag law enables the temporary removal of a gun or guns from a person whom a judge believes is a danger to themselves or others.
Our campaign was featured on signs inside Fairfax County Connector buses in English and Spanish. It has also been featured in the City of Alexandria's DASH buses.
We are continuing to work to expand awareness of this law in those jurisdictions and other ones.
Safer Country is working to promote "Stray Echoes."
Safer Country is working with retired Lt. Gen. Russel Honore and retired Army Col. Gordon Sumner on reducing gun suicides by active-duty military and their families.
Safer Country is working to engage Inova Health to follow in the footsteps of Northwell Health and expand screening of patients to include asking about guns in the home.
According to the last Surgeon General, gun violence is a public health epidemic. Gunfire is the leading cause of deaths for children and teens between 1-19. Secure storage is essential to protect children. Inova Health must participate in preventing these deaths.
We deeply appreciate your support for our work to prevent gun tragedies and save lives!
