We Are Better Together Warren Daniel Hairston Project (WAB2G), is a Boston-based grassroots organization that connects and heals women and girls affected by homicide and incarceration to prevent cycles of violence and victimization.
My name is Ruth Rollins, founder of WAB2G. My goal is to interrupt the cycles of ongoing harm by making available resources and support to educate, advocate and heal communities.
I believe as a community, we need to be held accountable for our actions, lead with compassion, and have empathy. In today's world, when traumatic event happen, we as a community create a stigma for those involved. When a loved one has been affected by homicide and incarceration, that stigma is placed on the family that isolates them from receiving much-needed love and support.
I have experienced this stigma firsthand when I lost my son, Warren Daniel Hairston to an unsolved homicide and another son to incarceration.
I created WAB2G’s mission based on the pain and stigma I went through. WAB2G breaks the cycles of violence and creates a non-judgmental zone so that others impacted by the trauma of violence can understand and be aware of its challenges. We create opportunities for growth and restorative justice in our neighborhoods while healing ourselves, our families, and our communities.
With your help, WAB2G will expand our services to provide support to individuals and families including food assistance, transportation assistance, home assistance, recovery referrals, and therapy.
With your support, we can continue to heal our communities. Together, we are breaking down the barriers and stigmas that contribute to the cycles of trauma and violence in our communities.
This is why we truly believe that We Are Better Together.
