Just months before Hurricane Maria changed everything in Puerto Rico, Waves Ahead formed to make sure that LGBTQ older adults across the island had the support and services they need to live long, healthy, resilient lives. When the storm struck, we had to change gears as we reckoned with the devastation and the disappointing governmental response amid an already challenging economic and political climate on the island.
Investment from the city and grants have covered many of our building expenses but we still need to raise $70,000 by December 31st to make sure the Centro is ready to welcome our community in January. Can you donate today to invest in the resilience and potential of LGBTQ elders in Puerto Rico?
We’ve been blown away by the financial and emotional support we’ve received since the impacts of the Hurricanes. You make us feel less alone here in Puerto Rico and in turn we make sure our elders have someone by their side. Thanks for your ongoing generosity.
