As many of you know, I’ve spent the last year and a half working with Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. We’re fighting for common-sense gun laws. We're talking about the sorts of things that most Americans agree on: Background checks on all gun sales. Preventing domestic abusers from getting their hands on guns and closing the sorts of loopholes that allowed a white supremacist to kill 9 people in the sanctity of their Charleston church.
This June 2nd I’ll be Wearing Orange to recognize National Gun Violence Awareness Day and to honor victims of gun violence. We'll be raising awareness about how big of a problem gun violence is in the United States, and raising money to help solve that problem. The best part? A percentage of any money I raise for Moms Demand Action nationally will be kicked back to our WA state chapter. That means that we can pay for more local tabling events, member trainings - the sorts of things that allow us to grow our base of people who are willing to stand up and fight for common-sense solutions to what has become a public health crisis. This means more Be SMART presentations at PTAs to help spread the word on safe storage of firearms.
So, for the 93 people (8 of them children) who die every day, and the 200 more people who are injured every day by gun violence, I ask you to please make a $93 contribution - or if you can - a $200 contribution. We don’t need to live like this. Thank you so much for your help!
