As we look ahead to the crucial elections this November, so much of our attention is naturally drawn to the top of the ballot. But some of the most impactful decisions affecting our daily lives—from education and healthcare funding to voting rights, local infrastructure and the environment—happen right in our General Assembly.
That is why down-ballot races are the true battlegrounds this year.
Right now, we have a historic opportunity to change the balance of power in South Carolina. We have identified three exceptional Democratic state House candidates running in highly competitive districts in the Midlands. These seats, currently held by Republicans, are entirely winnable, but only if we give these campaigns the resources they need to scale up their voter outreach, launch targeted ads, and organize on the ground.
If we can flip just these three seats, that's almost half of the seven seats needed to break the Republicans' supermajority in the House. This might enable us to stop some of the worst proposed legislation.
We cannot do this alone, and that is why we are reaching out to you today. Would you be willing to suporrt our joint fundraiser on Friday, September 18 to support these three critical candidates? These candidates are: Joe Madge (House District 89), Steven Asbill (House District 85), and Julie Zimmerman (House District 71).
Thank you for your dedication to building a better future for South Carolina from the grassroots up!
