Chelcie Thanks You for Your Commitment to Support Jim Wertz

If you are on this page, I've probably talked to you about Jim already.

But if I failed to mention this, he was Chairman of the Erie County Democratic Party from 2018-2023. We worked together most of that time. He's been the best teacher, mentor, and friend I could ask for, and he's done an incredible job of putting Erie on the map in the larger political conversation.

Like me, he is an only child raised by a single mother who had to forge his own path and work for everything he's ever had.

He's not from Erie, but he's lived here since 1997. He has what he calls an "immigrant's love for the place." Where he's from in Berks County isn't that different from Erie. And honestly, the fact that he came from somewhere else and loves Erie like those of us who were born and raised here is almost better than a birthright love for the place. (And he's a better Erie tour guide than most.)

Anyway, my guy has been teaching since 2005, and he's been a union member since age 18. He was the communications coordinator for the Edinboro Chapter of APSCUF during their 2016 strike, and he has served in more union leadership roles than I have space to write here.

He's married to Kim and has three kids who are destined for greatness, in no small part because of their parents.

I fully believe he will deliver for all of us in the State Senate, but first he has to get there. This race was an uphill battle from the jump, but and there isn't another candidate who will work harder and do all of the things necessary to win.
