From Chicago to LA to DC, this whistle carries a simple message: community protection through collective action.
The movement began in Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood, where artists and organizers created a zine through Pilsen Arts & Community House—a visual guide that helped turn care into action.
These whistles are shared as part of community safety kits, alongside Know Your Rights cards and clear instructions—tools meant to be used together, not alone.
The butterfly imagery you’ll often see represents migration, resilience, and survival.
The message is clear:
Form a crowd. Stay loud.
When one of us is in danger, we all show up.
