Help Flip California Congressional District 45

Biden won this district by a comfortable margin in 2020 and registered Democrats outnumber Republicans here. But many of these voters didn’t turn out in 2022, allowing Michelle Steel — a staunch conservative — to win in this majority nonwhite district by less than 11,000 votes. Democrats can win and hold CA-45 through focused work to engage, persuade, and mobilize voters — including over 50,000 Latinos and Asians who currently aren’t registered.

To defeat Steel, People’s House recommends that donors support OC Action, an organizing group that engages AAPI and Latino voters as part of a long-term push to transform the electorate in Orange County. OC Action’s work to flip CA-45 includes in-person canvassing, digital outreach, and in-language media ads.

This recommendation was developed by People’s House, which helps donors support effective electoral groups that are working to engage voters and elect Democrats in competitive congressional districts. It is a project of Blue Tent, an independent research site that makes recommendations for how Democratic and progressive donors can give with maximum impact to win elections and advance change.
