Dr. Gwen Dowdy Rodgers is a 21st century leader. She is a wife, mother, and lifetime resident of San Bernardino. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Social Work and a master’s degree in Human Resource /Management and a doctorate in education. This coupled with twenty plus years of experience in Business Finance has made Dowdy-Rodgers a well-respected change agent in the community.
Currently, Dowdy Rodgers is employed with Pacific Clinics as a Community Development Specialists. Her primary focus is Civic and Governmental Relations where she resources and advocates on behalf of foster youth families in the community and she is the President of Arrowhead United Way fighting for Health, Education and Financial Stability of every person in every community.
Dowdy Rodgers serves on numerous boards including the legislative committee for the California School Board Association and she is a First 5 Commissioner and Co-Chair of San Bernardino Countywide Gangs and Drugs Taskforce
Dowdy Rodgers efforts do not stop there. Dowdy Rodgers was elected in 2015 and has served as the vice president and president of the San Bernardino City Unified School District. She has helped to develop Restorative Practices, PBiS, and other Social Emotional Learning strategies policies and procedures to help students in the San Bernardino School District. Additionally, she has been instrumental in ensuring that the district is responsive to: Parent Advocacy, Community Engagement, Grading Policy, A-G Readiness, and Customer Service, just to name some of her focus areas.
Dowdy Rodgers has collaborated directly with teachers and principals in various capacities as well as supporting community organizations.
Dowdy Rodgers is a champion of the people and fights every day to make sure there is equity for all students in the district.
Dowdy Rodgers continues to work on social justice issues to close the equity gap through continued parent engagement and involvement, improving A-G college and career readiness towards student success, wellness centers, biliteracy for all including sign language, dual college enrollment,100% FAFSA completion, financial literacy, and providing more supports to the counseling department, building middle school gyms and continued student and staff safety.
