Flip the House: Oakland Fundraiser for Will Lawrence

Will Lawrence, a co-founder of the Sunrise Movement, an architect of the Green New Deal, and founder of The Rent Is Too Damn High organizing project in his hometown of East Lansing, Michigan is running for Congress.

You are invited to meet Will, hear about his campaign, and lend your support Thursday, May 14 from 6 to 8pm in downtown Oakland at the Bay Rising Action office 570 14th, Suite 5, Oakland 94612.

Come for pizza and snacks at 6:00pm. At 6:30 hear Will offer details about his program, answer questions about his campaign strategy, and explain how a victory in this Michigan District will help contribute to blocking MAGA’s agenda and building progressive power all across the country. 

Michigan District 7 is one of the critical swing districts that will determine whether opponents of racist authoritarianism will be able to end MAGA’s control of the House of Representatives. Will is running on a full-spectrum progressive agenda (detailed here) with an emphasis on lowering the cost of living, ending US wars, and seriously addressing climate change. He has been endorsed by the National Nurses United, the Sunrise Movement, the Working Families Party, and Standing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ). 

Two out of three recent polls show Will leading his two corporate-funded opponents for the Democratic Party nomination as the race heads for the August 4 primary. Will’s campaign relies on hundreds of volunteers active on the ground in Mid-Michigan, but funds are needed to add an effective “air war” to the grassroots ground game. Will does not accept any corporate funds or AIPAC money.
