Council Member Won is an immigrant and mother who has spent the last four years representing New Yorkers from all over the world. Julie is the first woman, immigrant, and mother to represent District 26.
In just four years on the City Council, Julie delivered over $2 billion in investment and resources to her district, passed the historic OneLIC neighborhood rezoning, and approved more new affordable housing in her district than all of Queens County over the last decade. While serving as Chair of the Committee on Contracts, Julie was a watchdog against corruption and waste on over $25 billion worth of City contracts annually--while also fighting to increase the number of minority & women owned businesses awarded City contracts.
Julie will fight to realize a A Lifetime of Care: free universal childcare, paid leave for care workers, retirement with dignity, and the protection of families everywhere.
Prior to entering public service, Julie worked at IBM as a consultant for nearly a decade.
