The Amazon Labor Union-IBT Local 1 is building a new Worker Training Center just steps away from the JFK8 Amazon fulfillment center on Staten Island. This 600-square-foot space will be a hub for steward trainings, mass membership meetings, and political education, where workers come together to build skills, deepen solidarity, and prepare for the fights ahead.
What makes this space different is how it’s being built. ALU members are building it ourselves, constructing the walls, floors, and ceilings with our own hands as we build out the rest of the union hall. It’s an infrastructure for worker power, created by and for the people who keep Amazon running.
The Worker Training Center will also serve the broader Staten Island community. When it’s not hosting union trainings or membership meetings, it will be open to grassroots organizations, tenant groups, immigrant justice organizations, and other community formations fighting for dignity and democracy.
To complete this project, we are raising $10,000 to cover materials, equipment, and finishing costs. Supporting this effort means investing in a permanent space for worker organizing, community collaboration, and the long-term fight for justice, right in the shadow of one of the most powerful corporations in the world.
