Warehouse Workers Action

Unidos for Maria

According to a study by the AFL-CIO, Latino workers are 24% more likely to die on the job than any other worker and things are getting worse, not better. Over the past ten years the rate of Latino workers dying on the job has risen by 24%!*

In our work, we have seen that one of the greatest lines of defense for workers is an engaged elected official who can shine a spotlight on abuses. That's why it's so important for people across Illinois to have principled and equitable representation.

Unfortunately, even though Latinos now make up 17% of the state population they are only represented by 9% of the general assembly.

That's why Warehouse Workers Action is proud to support Maria Peterson, the daughter of Mexican immigrants, and a former US Department of Labor attorney, in her bid to turn the 52nd district blue.

Her commitment to workers and communities has earned her the endorsement of the IL AFL-CIO as well as other major unions and organizations including Moms Demand Action, Personal PAC, Planned Parenthood, and Everytown for Gun Safety.

Please join us to help Maria become the next member of the Latinx caucus and keep our workers and our communities safe.
