Xela Garcia is running for the Milwaukee Board of School Directors, District 6 in the April 2021 election to represent our city's South Side.
Marcela “Xela” Garcia is a Xicana artist, innovator and cultural warrior that was born in Guadalajara and raised in Milwaukee’s South Side. She currently serves as the Executive Director at Walker's Point Center for the Arts. She is a proud Milwaukee Public Schools alumna, having attended Allen-Field Elementary School, Samuel Morse Middle School and Rufus King High School. She earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and also holds a certification in Nonprofit Leadership. She worked in a bilingual MPS school within the district and currently serves as a mayoral appointee to the City of Milwaukee Arts Board.
