Nearly 1/3 of adults in Santa Ana are noncitizen residents. They pay millions in taxes, run small businesses, work hard, and raise their families in Santa Ana — yet, they don't have a say in who represents them at City Hall and whether their local taxes get raised just because of their immigration status.
That's why we're organizing to pass Measure DD, which will allow all adult Santa Ana residents, regardless of federal citizenship status, to legally vote in city elections for council members, the mayor’s office, and local measures (ex. Measure X city sales tax passed in 2018).
With just weeks until Election Day, we need your support to make sure Measure DD gets across the finish line. Right now, anti-democratic MAGA extremists are trying to defeat Measure DD with dark money and disinformation.
But we know we can win in November because we have what they don't: people power. We're relying on grassroots community support from people like you to fight back against these well-funded, extreme outside interests and their blatant scare tactics.
During a time in which democratic norms are under attack by extremists across the country, strengthening local democracy is critical to protecting civil rights. Join the ACLU of Southern California, UNITE HERE Local 11, UFCW 324, local leaders, and Santa Ana families in the movement to bolster and defend democracy in Santa Ana by chipping in to our fight to pass Measure DD.
