About Zellnor:
A long time advocate for affordable housing, immigration reform, and women’s rights, Zellnor is running for State Senator in District 20 in Brooklyn this fall, in what we believe is a crucial race in the fight to take back the New York State Senate for Democrats.
Even though many of us consider New York a solid blue state with progressive policies, our State Senate is currently controlled by Republicans - thanks to a rogue group of Democrats known as the IDC. This small group of “Democrats” have chosen to caucus with the Republicans, ceding control on budgets, committee appointments, and ultimately legislation to the Republicans in Albany. This year alone, legislation on Universal Healthcare, the DREAM Act, Funding for Education and a host of other key bills integral to our community have been blocked from a vote on the floor.
District 20, a district that covers Prospect Heights, Park Slope, Crown Heights, Gowanus, South Slope, Prospect Lefferts Garden, Brownsville, East Flatbush, and Sunset Park, is currently represented by a member of the IDC.
We want to change that.
Zellnor, a lawyer, a community activist, and an outspoken critic of the IDC, is leading that change. Zellnor derives inspiration for his public service from his mother, who moved to Brooklyn 40 years ago from Costa Rica on the promise of a mattress and job at a factory. She raised Zellnor in a rent-stabilized apartment in Prospect Lefferts Garden and thanks to her hard work and support, he was able to attend one of the best public schools in the borough, then college and eventually law school. The city gave to him, and he wants to give back.
Please join us in supporting Zellnor in this fight by attending our event at The Owl Music Parlor. He will be there in person to answer your questions. If you cannot attend, please consider making a donation to support the campaign.
Thank you for your support!
