An Update on Global Zero

After a challenging year of financial uncertainty and stress, we have made the difficult decision to suspend Global Zero's operations. If you would like to contribute to Global Zero's ongoing maintenance, which will preserve access to cutting-edge analysis and maintain visibility of the high-level support for nuclear disarmament, it would be a big help.


Since Global Zero launched in Paris in 2008, we’ve relentlessly pursued a future free from nuclear weapons, and scored many meaningful victories along the way. Over the years, we built a transformative international network of world leaders, luminaries, and experts to speak out on the urgent need for nuclear abolition — and what it will take to get there. We kept the media and the public focused on existential risks and the ongoing harm caused by the nuclear weapons complex, to the tune of nearly half a billion dollars worth of press coverage globally. We reached hundreds of millions of people and organized tens of thousands of activists in every nuclear-armed region of the world. And we built deep cross-movement partnerships that connected the dots between nuclear weapons, democracy, racial and economic justice, public health, and the climate crisis.


We had an incredible run, and we are forever grateful to all those who inspired, counseled, and supported us along the way. We know the impact of our work will be felt for years to come. 

 

Global Zero is a big idea about what’s possible, in our lives and in the world. We’re not ready to let go of that, so we're maintaining essential infrastructure and will keep searching for opportunities to breathe renewed life into this work.

 

In the meantime, hold tight to the values that ground our efforts, and stay focused on this critical issue. The path to a world without nuclear weapons is difficult and long — but it will be carved by our collective capacity for imagination, courage, empathy, trust, and justice.
