Planting Seeds of Change

embed errored

There's an old proverb: "The best time to plant a tree was twenty years ago — the second best time is today."

Today, we are planting seeds of change in Iowa, and new energy for Iowa Democrats statewide, by building a grassroots, monthly recurring donation program — for reasons I'll explain in more detail below.

I am asking for your support with a sustaining gift of $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, or whatever you can afford to sustainably contribute. Can you help us meet our goal?

As I mentioned above, I want to explain why this is so important.

Iowa Democrats have two urgent, pressing priorities:

First, Iowa Democrats desperately need full-time, year-round organizing. The old model of hiring new organizers six months out from an election simply isn't working. As I have listened to our activists and volunteers, the need for a new approach was crystal clear — and paying for year-round organizing will require sustaining contributions like yours.

Second, candidates in targeted races are forced to choose between voter contact (door knocking) and donor contact (calling people to ask for money) — this has to change. We need our candidates with close races talking to as many voters as possible, not just working the phones to raise money. Grassroots contributions like yours ensure that our candidates can spend their time knocking on doors instead of focusing their efforts on raising money.

Finally, I am committed to doing everything I can to get Iowa Democrats back on track.
