With the race for governor and Fresno City Council in a dead heat, leading advocates for Latinos and environmental justice in Fresno have decided they need to get involved in election politics in order to realize the changes they seek. They have formed a coalition called Communities for a New California to do just this.

New voters and especially Latinos helped Barack Obama become the first Democrat since Bill Clinton to win the City of Fresno and Fresno County. The CNC Fresno-Tulare Committee has a door-to-door campaign to bring these new voters back to the polls for gubernatorial candidate Jerry Brown and progressive city council candidate, Oliver Baines.
