With the legislative session now only five days away, I am outlining five of my own priorities for the year.
Healthcare ExpansionHealthcare expansion was my number one priority in 2013 and in 2014 I will continue to work hard for the over 300,000 Hoosiers that are being denied healthcare due to Governor Pence's political games. I will do everything I can to shed light on this issue and the harmful decisions the Pence administration is making.
Honest Education SolutionsIt's time to look back at the education policy changes made in the past few years and examine what they are actually doing for our children. It is extremely important we stop the political games and begin focusing on what is best for the children of Indiana.
Stopping HJR-6As I've pledged before, I will be voting no on HJR-6, the anti-freedom amendment that harms LGBTQ families and all unmarried Hoosier couples. It is very important that the legislature does not enshrine discrimination into our constitution.
Youth EntrepreneurshipWhen I go door-to-door for my campaign, I am too often met by an unemployed graduate or the parent of a fine student who has moved back home with one or two degrees and no job. I want to focus on how we can help these young citizens fulfill their own goals and help the community by creating jobs and innovating in their sectors.
Public TransitPublic transit is extremely important to the growth of Central Indiana and I will continue to support an efficient and modern system for the region. Public transit improves the local economy, cuts costs for families, and creates jobs.
