Congressman Steve Kagen, MD (an allergist from Appleton) is running in a hotly contested re-election campaign for Wisconsin's 8th Congressional District.
He has asked Dane County Docs to support his campaign and this is an opportunity to do just that. As you know, Dr. Kagen has been a friend of physicians and our patients over his two terms in congress. I have personally visited him in his office on behalf of the APA, WPA and WMS and have always found him to be a champion for our issues. As an incumbent, he is in an absolute dogfight for re-election this year.
Why should Dane County Docs care? He is in Wisconsin's delegation, so he has been fighting for all of Wisconsin's providers and patients. Clearly, the loss of his professional and knowledgable voice would give us and our patients one less champion in the House.
What can you do? You can show your support by attending our meeting with Dr. Kagen tomorrow at the Great Dane in Fitchburg at 630 or please give money to this account to help Dr. Kagen in his re-election campaign.
Please contact me with questions. Hope to see you there.
Jerry L. Halverson, MD
President, Dane County Medical Society
