May 15 will be a major day in the history of Douglas and Cochise County. The day starts with a 10am rally and walk sponsored by Douglas for Just Immigration Reform: Stop AZ 1070 and flows into a Celebration of the Hispanic Heritage of Cochise County by the Cochise County Democratic Committee.
Douglas, celebrating its 105th anniversary this day, was the city with the first Hispanic Mayor (Raul Castro, later the first Hispanic Governor of Arizona), the first Hispanic City Councilman, and the first Hispanic City Councilwoman.
On May 15, Douglas continues its leadership role for Hispanic rights with this rally and reception, which will feature mini tacos, chimis, and other food of La Frontera.
